Lamar County Public Records Resources
Lamar County was created on February 4, 1867, and was originally called as Jones County. It was later, on February 7, 1877, that the name was changed to Lamar. The county was named after Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar and its county seat is Vernon. The county’s total population as of the year 2000 was 15,904.
This county is one of those which have a low rate of crime statistics within the state. Both violent crimes and property crimes were rated very low according to a certain survey, yet the fact remains that there were still arrests ongoing in Lamar County suggesting that there’s no reason to be so sure. According to a particular survey, there were over 50 sex offenders found in the county.
