Dallas County Locating Court Records
Finding court records just about anywhere in the country can be problematic. Because there are so many different types of courts, and that each county in each state has a myriad of methods for archiving these records, getting ahold of these records is almost a marketable skill.
Thankfully, Dallas County, Alabama has a Recording and Records Office, making it somewhat unique. However, this office does not keep a database of criminal records – but we will direct you to the appropriate court for those too. To contact the Recording and Records Office, you can start by emailing their office at [email protected], or by calling them at (334)876-4824. This office also has an online presence, which can be found by visiting http://www.dallascounty-al.org/secondary.aspx?pageID=54.
Another option is to directly contact the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Although they may not have direct access to many court records, they should be able to tell you whether or not a particular charge was taken to court, which can save you a great deal of time. You can call the office at (334)874-2530, or by emailing them [email protected].
Two final options for gaining access to court records in Dallas County, Alabama are to visit the Alabama Judicial System’s website at http://judicial.alabama.gov/. This website lists a great many of the court decisions that have been rendered across the state. Contacting the Alabama Supreme Court and State Law Library may also provide you with the records you need, as they are an institutionally-mandated group required to maintain these records. They can be reached via email at [email protected], or by calling (800)236-4069.
