Franklin County Jail and Prison Records
Because of Franklin County’s somewhat lacking online presence, you have a very limited set of options when it comes to getting jail and prison records for Franklin County, Alabama. While some counties provide an online listing of persons currently imprisoned, as well as a set of active warrants, Franklin County does not. Because of this, you will need to do additional research.
There are two options: you can either utilize state-sponsored, official resources, and mine through the statistics yourself, or you can use the services of a private business that specializes in getting exactly the information that you require. In this article, we will show you how to follow the official, state provided path.
The best place to begin is the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center. This group, whom specializes in collecting large data sets concerning the nature of crime in not only Franklin County but all of Alabama, does an excellent job. Each of their data sets can be customized so as to display information based on crime committed, racial profiles, the county where it was committed, and even the date when it was committed. To get started, visit the Crime in Alabama Overview page at http://acjic.state.al.us/crime.cfm#cia.
The Alabama Department of Corrections also maintains a dataset, although it is chiefly concerned with those persons whom are currently imprisoned. When combined with the statistics the ACJIC provides, you should be able to learn almost anything you want. The best place to begin is the DOC’s Statistics page, which can be found at http://www.doc.state.al.us/reports.asp.
