Chambers County Marriage & Divorce Records
Both marriage and divorce records are known as Vital Records. In addition to birth certificates and death records, Vital Records are necessary for a wide variety of legal and social functions. Under Alabama state law, Vital Records are split into two separate categories, based on whom can access them. In Alabama, there are certain restrictions placed on birth and death records, but not on marriage records or divorce records.
The Alabama Department of Public Health handles all requests for marriage certificates and divorce proceedings, as well as maintaining an active database of each. Although this database is not available online due to a mandatory fee the ADPH charges, they are required by law to provide you with either of these documents should you request them. Their homepage is located at http://adph.org.
You should note before you begin your marriage record search or divorce record search that the ADPH charges a mandatory $15.00 fee for the first copy of each such record, and a $6.00 fee for each subsequent record.
