Escambia County Marriage & Divorce Records
According to Alabama state law, the marital status of any individual person in the state of Alabama is considered to be public knowledge. This includes not only the current marital status of an individual, but also how man times they were married in the past, as well as if they have ever been divorced. What this means is that determining the marital status of any person in Escambria County, Alabama is your legal right.
In addition to the eased legal status surrounding marriage certificates and marriage records, these records are also easy to access because of how they are maintained. Unlike many official records in Alabama, which are managed by different institutions in each county, the Alabama Department of Public Health manages all Vital Records across the state. Vital Records also include birth certificates and death certificates.
To begin your hunt for marriage certificates or divorce records, then you should visit the corresponding ADPH web pages: http://adph.org/vitalrecords/index.asp?id=1562 for marriage certificates, and http://adph.org/vitalrecords/index.asp?id=1561 for divorce certificates.
You should note that although these records are available to anyone in Alabama, whether they are from Escambria County or not, the ADPH requires you to pay a $15.00 fee for the first copy of any marital record or divorce certificate. Due to this, these records are not available online. Each copy after the first of these records will cost $6.00.
