Hale County, Alabama – Marriage and Divorce Records

Have you spent any time looking for records throughout the state of Alabama? Whether you’re looking for criminal records, prison records, or even court records, you have probably learned that accessing many of these records can be tremendously difficult. Thankfully, this is not the case for marriage certificates and divorce records.

This is for two major reasons: the first is that, under state law of Alabama, marriage and divorce records are considered to be public knowledge. This means that any person can inquire and find out the marital status of any person in Alabama at any time, and for any reason. The second reason why accessing these records is much easier than others is because they are maintained by the Alabama Department of Public Health.

To look at specific directions to get ahold of a copy of marital records, then visit the corresponding ADPH web page at http://adph.org/vitalrecords/index.asp?id=1562. The version of this page that applies for divorce records can be found at http://adph.org/vitalrecords/index.asp?id=1561 .

While anyone can access these records, they will have to provide the ADPH a fee of $15.00 for the initial copy of Vital Records, and each subsequent copy after that will cost $6.00.

You can visit the Hale County, AL ADPH page at http://adph.org/hale/. They can also be contacted by telephone at (334)624-3018, or even visited in person at 670 Hall Street, in Greensboro, Alabama. You can also contact them through the Contact Us link on their web page and filling out the proper form, which can be found here: http://www.adph.org/ContactUs.asp?cnt=1&id=2697.
